Police in Bradford are preparing to go the ‘extra mile’ this winter as two 4x4 Land Rovers join the local fleet.

The vehicles have been provided free of charge by Farnell Land Rover Group that have dealerships in Bradford, Guiseley and
They’ll be used to provide the best possible service to residents, specifically during bad weather conditions.
Bradford South Deputy Divisional Commander, Superintendent Angela Williams said: “This is a super gesture from Farnell's and will go a long way in assisting residents during the winter months.
"We have received a Landrover Defender which will be used to cover the
“The vehicles provide us with a 4x4 capability on a very local level allowing us to quickly respond when and where it is needed.
“Over the past few years, the Bradford District has experienced some extreme weather conditions, which at times have proved quite testing.
“By being able to tackle the very worst weather in these vehicles, we will be able to lift pressure from our resources and get to people quickly who need our help.
“The Land Rovers are in addition to the 4x4 vehicles which the Force already has in service and puts us in a great position ahead of the colder months.
“Over the last few years we have seen situations where people have been stranded in snow or ice and which has required specialist vehicles.
“I am therefore really pleased to know we have these vehicles ready to respond and to help our local communities where required.”
Jatinder Aujla, Group Operations Manager for the Farnell Land Rover Group added:
"We are often informally asked by the Emergency Services to provide 4x4 vehicles every winter when the weather turns nasty. This year we have taken the decision to be more proactive and have provided the vehicles in advance and for a longer period of time.
"I think we all appreciate the fantastic work done by the Emergency Services and when the weather turns wintry their task gets much harder. Farnell Land Rover are part of the Co-operative Group and we actively want to help the communities that surround our businesses. Hopefully these two vehicles will help to perform some very important tasks that would otherwise be much more difficult to complete successfully."
