Nissan have extended the governments car scrappage scheme to cars between 8 and 10 years old, but only if you buy a new Nissan Micra, Note, Qashqai or Qashqai+2 built in Britain.

Over 1 in 4 cars made in the UK is a Nissan. That’s why Nissan are rewarding people who buy British. Where other manufacturers only accept cars over 10 years old, Nissan will take your 8 year old car off your hands and give you £2,000 off our British-made Micra, NOTE, QASHQAI or QASHQAI+2.

The terms and conditions of the Nissan schemes are as follows:

I have a car that is 8 – 10 years old*:

• To be eligible for the £2000 saving (but not in addition to the scrappage scheme), the trade in car must have been registered in the UK between 01/08/99 and 31/07/01. There is no obligation to scrap these vehicles.
• The keeper of the trade in car should have a UK address shown on the V5C.
• The claimant must have been the registered keeper of the trade in car for at least 12 calendar months before the order date of a new vehicle.
• The trade in car must have a current MOT certificate at order date of the new vehicle
• The new vehicle purchased must be a Nissan UK built vehicle (Micra, Micra C+C, NOTE, QASHQAI and QASHQAI+2 only).

I have a car that is over 10 years old**:

• To be eligible for the £2000 scrappage contribution (£1,000 from the UK Government, £1,000 from Nissan), the trade in car must have been registered in the UK before 31/07/99.
• The scrappage scheme is available from 18/05/2009 for the first 300,000 customers or until 31/03/2010, whichever milestone is reached first.
• The keeper of the trade in car should have a UK address shown on the V5C.
• The claimant must have been the registered keeper of the trade in car for at least 12 calendar months before the order date of a new vehicle.
• The trade in car must have a current MOT certificate at order date of the new vehicle
• The new vehicle purchased must be a Nissan car or van up to 3.5 tonnes in weight.
