Local Drivers Given a Sneak Peek at Nissan's Top New Vehicle

Drivers from all over the Midlands have been treated to a rare glimpse of the much talked about new vehicle from Nissan – the Qashqai.

A special pre-launch event was held Sunday 19th November at the The Co-operative Motor Group Nissan dealership on Derby Road, Ilkseton, to give a select crowd a preview of the new car months before it will become officially available.

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show this year, Qashqai is the new Compact Crossover for Europe from Nissan. Inspired by the concept car of the same name, the Qashqai (pronounced “cash-kai”) is a new vehicle for Nissan that is to roll out in February 2007. The car has been designed for buyers who want a dynamic design but who are not attracted to the large, aggressive nature of a compact SUV.

The lower portion of the car suggests strength and solidity thanks to large pronounced wheel arches, slightly elevated ground clearance and a purposeful stance. The interior has been designed to give the driver a focused cockpit feeling, with a clear separation between them and their passenger.

The deeply recessed instruments give a sporty feeling to the driving environment – a feeling reinforced by the raised central console. However, the front and passenger environments have been designed to feel airy, spacious and relaxing.

Dealer principal Jon Battison said: “It was a fantastic event which really proved how popular this car already is, and that’s just through word-of-mouth. From the feedback we received last night, we’re sure the car will prove to be a great success.”

Battison added: “Qashqai is sure to turn heads when it hits the roads in February, especially with drivers who wouldn’t traditionally consider buying a Nissan.”
