Diamond Ride Marks 60 Years of Land Rover at Farnell

It’s the only car of its kind in the world - at one of the oldest Land Rover dealer groups in the world....

This dazzling Range Rover Sport Autobiography is turning heads at Farnell Land Rover Guiseley where it is being displayed to celebrate the 60th birthday of both Land Rover and the dealer group itself.

The  brand new 2008 car is the first and so far the only Range Rover Sport Autobiography in the world to undergo the custom programme, which enables customers to personalise their vehicle using luxury finishes and a range of unique styling options.

As well as its exclusive Lamborghini metallic orange paint job, it features a host of other bespoke adjustments including Diamond stiched Black Nappa Leather seats. It’s extensive specification also includes a Harman Kardon Logic 7 sound system, Privacy Glass, Electric Sunroof, twin square section chrome exhausts and unique alloy wheels.

There’s also the distinctive bodykit that comes as standard with the HST – a much coveted top trim model favoured by celebrities including Liverpool captain and England player Steven Gerrard.

But it’s not all front. Fans of this 4x4 beauty will also appreciate its standard 3.6-litre V8 diesel engine which produces 268bhp and has even greater pulling power than Lamborghini’s Gallardo.

The distinctive spec was however, not chosen by a customer, but by the Guiseley dealership itself to highlight the possibilities for creating a truly personalised Range Rover Sport Autobiography.

Operations Manager Jatinder Aujla said: “The Autobiography programme involves taking a car off the production line once it is built and then hand customising it to a customer’s required specification. In this case we chose to repaint the car in a unique colour to mark our diamond anniversary and it’s a nice twist on Land Rover’s traditional colours of green and orange.

“Of course, it is possible to buy a Range Rover Sport  and go to the many and varied aftermarket specialists to have this sort of work done. But then it becomes a makeover rather than the product of a bespoke programme taken care of in-house at Land Rover. You can really tell the difference in the quality of finish when you see this vehicle in the flesh. Nothing can beat an official factory conversion and the vehicle will always command a premium for this authenticity.”

The one-off Range Rover is available for purchase at a cool £79,995. Meanwhile Farnell will use it for promotion and display to celebrate their 60th anniversary year.

The name Farnell has been synonymous with Land Rover in West Yorkshire since the brand first appeared in 1948. It was one of Land Rover’s first dealers and has continued to evolve with it as, over six decades, Defender, Freelander, Discovery, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover have fulfilled changing requirements for urban style, comfort and unbeatable off-road capability.

This year, the dealership became the first in the north and the one of only six in the entire country to get a £500,000 deluxe refurbishment, including a new luxury customer waiting area.
