A local couple couldn’t believe their luck when they received a telephone call from their favourite car dealership, informing them of their success in a prize draw.
Mr and Mrs Longfield of Otley, who ordinarily drive a Rover 25, earned the use of a brand new sports car for one month, after their names were selected from a mountain of entries.
The excited couple selected a sporty Mazda RX-8 – voted ‘Best Coupe 2006’ by What Car? magazine – from the top models available at the The Co-operative Motor Group Mazda showroom in Guiseley.
Mrs Longfield said: “We are longstanding customers of the White Cross dealership, and its great to see it going from strength to strength. We’re having so much fun in our sporty coupe that it will be a shame to have to return it later this month.”
The Co-operative Motor Group’s dealer principal Howard Strickland said: “The prize draw was part of a fun day to celebrate the re-branding of our Guiseley dealership from, Rover to Mazda.
“The closure of Rover was particularly poignant for us because it was one of the oldest dealerships in the country.
“But judging by the positive reception to date, The Co-operative Motor Group and Mazda are going to have a great future together in Guiseley.
“Since the £70,000 re-launch in late July, we have sold over 85 new cars, and more than 200 used vehicles.”
