Christmas came early for a local boy, after his creative artwork came top in a nationwide poster competition.
Ten year old William Rix from Bingley decided to get involved after seeing the competition – launched by The Co-operative Motor Group Finance – highlighted in a local paper.
The Co-operative Motor Group Finance – which has dealerships in Bradford, Keighley, Guiseley and Halifax –unveiled the contest in response to recently enforced EU regulations governing the use of booster seats.
Under 11’s from throughout the UK were invited to design a bright and colourful poster, explaining that children under 12 or less than 135cm tall must sit on a booster seat.
The Co-operative Motor Group Finance general manager Tony Guest said: “We think it is important that both children and parents understand how essential booster seats are. The Government has predicted that the new regulations will prevent 2000 child deaths and injuries per year, hence this was something we wanted to support.”
“We hoped that the competition would pose an exciting but rewarding challenge for youngsters nationwide, and allow them to express the laws in a fun and upbeat manner. William’s entry won first prize because his poster does just that.”
William picked up his prize – an in-car DVD player – from his local The Co-operative Motor Group Finance Renault dealership at Crosshills last week.
In second place was Cloe Lane from Nottingham, while third prize was awarded to Emily Hodgson of Bingley.
